Reallocation with Electric Hatch
Check out how an electric hatch was used in an old school. It brings light into the loft and makes the roof accessible. Thus, the old school in Amsterdam gets a new use with a beautiful outdoor space on the roof.
Reallocation old school
Reallocation in Amsterdam. The old school building at the Blankenstraat in Amsterdam is transformed into beautiful spacious lofts. Where there used to be roperies in this street, where the ropes for the VOC were manufactured, now, in the former first class primary school No. 112, there are offices and lofts. The former school at the Blankenstraat is situated in a small district on the “Oostelijke Eilanden” in Amsterdam. More specifically: between the Czaar Peterbuurt, the Cruquiuskade, the Funenpark and the railway CS – Muiderpoort. Up to the 19th century, this was the stronghold Zeeburg. During excavations for the construction of the new housing estate, the remains of the walls of the stronghold appeared. A great place for a loft.
Schoonheid van natuur in de stad
Beauty of nature in the city
A concealed oasis in the city, with history. The eastern island was full of children and there used to be a lot more schools than there are now. Mostly public schools, without a name, only with a number. In the Blankenstraat the 1st class Public Primary School No. 112 could be found.
In 1920, a young teacher was hired at this school, who considered it his duty to show the beauty of nature and city to the working class children. Almost 100 years later, the Electric Hatch ‘Skydoor’ brings nature in again.
Old leaking roof access hatch replaced by hinged access rooflight for the sky only view
A unique view: from the inside you only see the sky. As the roof access hatch is placed on a raised edge that is outside the recess, you achieve the unique Sky Only View. The raised edge also ensures that the hinged access rooflight is 100% watertight. A great improvement for the residents of the loft, who used this roof access hatch to replace a former leaking one.
To be opened stepless for ventilation
The specifically synchronised motor of the electric roof access hatch is strong enough to open a glass partition of a few hundred kilos stepless. One can press the stop button at any time and thus apply the hatch at the desired angle to use it as a ventilation rooflight.
The hinged access rooflight has high-quality insulation. This way, you do not only bring light into your home, but also contribute to a sustainable environment.
