Duinhuis on Martha’s vineyard
Hutker Architects designed the Duin Huis on the beautiful island of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. The island is popular as a summer residence for the happy few and for peace seekers. With an appearance of driftwood, the house perfectly blends in with the surroundings. The lineation of the roof terrace follows the lines of the dune scenery. The Sliding Box gives access to the roof terrace of this beach house.
Bespoke sliding roof access
Completely custom designed is the Sliding Box. This sliding skylight is electrically operated and provides access to the spacious terrace. It simultaneously provides the home with additional daylight. The roof terrace has a built-in lounge sofa and a freestanding bath with great views of the dunes and ocean. The roof access offers optimal thermal performance and is superbly insulated. The motors are hidden in the frame, creating a beautiful Sky Only View.
With the use of materials such as glass, concrete, wood and bronze, the house reflects its surroundings.
