Northern Lights for Buitenhuis (Outdoor house)

This amazing house won the Daylight Award. Sunlight and views play a major role in the dike house in the Green Heart. The abundance of daylight inside reinforces the feeling of being part of the landscape: a “room-in-a-view. A professor searched for years for a place where he could live and work optimally. He analyzed promising locations with Mirck Architecture.

Large rooflight for Northern Lights

The search ends on a quiet dam with sublime views. A large open living space sits above the dike on the water. The southwest-facing living workspace merges into the north-facing living kitchen through a large skylight. The panoramic southwest-facing space turns into an indoor sunroom facing north. The bedroom is secluded, behind two ancient Chinese doors. The intimate space faces the setting sun through a sliding door. From the bed, a panoramic window gives a view of the nature reserve across the water.
